General Questions

A Hong Kong visit visa allows foreign nationals to enter Hong Kong temporarily for tourism, business meetings, or to visit friends and relatives. It does not permit employment or study.

It depends on your nationality. Citizens of over 170 countries (including the US, UK, EU, Australia, and many others) can visit Hong Kong visa-free for periods ranging from 7 to 180 days. Others must apply for a visit visa before traveling.

The stay period varies by nationality and visa type—typically 7, 14, 30, 90, or 180 days. The exact duration is stated on your visa or entry stamp.

You can apply through: The Hong Kong Immigration Department (HKID) directly (by post or through a local sponsor), or The nearest Chinese Embassy or Consulate in your country.

Processing usually takes 4–6 weeks, depending on the applicant’s nationality and submission method.
